The biennial International Congress of Eye Research (ICER) is held in some of the world's most distinctive cities. Symposia address topics with broad, interdisciplinary interest and are balanced with Plenary Lectures and Poster Sessions. Researchers from around the world share their expertise and experience at ICER making this a much-anticipated international event. ISER grants travel fellowships to young investigators who plan to attend its congresses, and offers four distinguished research awards biennially.
ICER XVIII will be held in Beijing, China September 24-29, 2008. A dedicated website for ICER XVIII is available at: www.chinamed.com.cn/2008icer/
Two satellite meetings have been organized before the ICER meeting. The XIII international Symposium on Retinal Degenerations will be held in Emeishan, Chengdu on September 18-23, 2008 (http://rd2008.ouhsc.edu). The joint Asian Cataract Research conference and the Lens Satellite meeting will be held in Xi'an on September 18-21, 2008 (http://www.7acrc-18icer.com/index.jsp). Please note that the abstract submission deadline for the joint Asian Cataract Research conference and the Lens Satellite meeting has been extended to June 1, 2008.

- February 15 - Online abstract submission opens
- April 1 - nomination deadline for research prizes
- April 8 - abstract submission deadline (note: new extended deadline)
- April 15 - deadline for receiving applications for Young Investigator Travel Fellowships
- April 15 - research prize candidate documents due
- May 31 - early registration deadline for attendees (fees increase on June 1)
- May 15 - travel fellowship recipients notified

The International Society for Eye Research (ISER) was founded in 1968 to establish an international organization to support eye and vision research. The organization is comprised of vision research scientists from more than 34 countries, holds a biennial International Congress of Eye Research, and has national chapters in China, Japan, Israel, and Russia. ISER's official journal is Experimental Eye Research.
